Troops Repel Separate Terrorist Attacks In Zamfara, Thwart Mass Abduction Bid, Recover Weapons, Motorcycles
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully repelled separate terrorist attacks in Zamfara State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons, motorcycles, and other items during operations in Maru and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas.
Military sources disclosed that on June 9, 2026, troops responded to a terrorist attack in Kanoma District of Maru Local Government Area.
Acting on intelligence, the troops moved to Kanoma Hill where they made contact with the terrorists.
During the ensuing firefight, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, neutralising one terrorist.

Following the operation, troops recovered one rifle loaded with ammunition and two motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists.
In a separate operation, troops deployed in Kaura Namoda received information about an attack on villagers in Kungurki Village, where terrorists were reportedly attempting to abduct residents.
The troops immediately mobilised to the area and confronted the terrorists upon arrival. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, forcing the attackers to retreat after suffering casualties.
During the operation, troops neutralised several terrorists and recovered one locally fabricated rifle, three rounds of 7.62×39mm ammunition, four cutlasses, and one mobile phone.
The operations are part of ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists freedom of action and enhance security across Zamfara State and then we wider North-West region.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements while ensuring the protection of lives and property in affected communities.
