The Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti has assigned portfolios to the newly inaugurated members of the state Executive Council.

They are as follows

Ikechukwu Uwanna: Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice

Prof Monica Ironkwe, Ministry of Agriculture

Kingsley Anosike, Budget and Planning

Prof Uche Eme Uche, Ministry of Education

Philemon Asonye Ogbonna: Environment and Urban Renewal

Mike Akpara: Ministry of Finance

Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo: Ministry of Health

Prince Okey Kanu, Ministry of  Information and Culture

Chaka Chukwumerije, Ministry of Lands and Housing

Prince Uzor Nwachukwu Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs

Prof Joel Friday Ogbonna, Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources

Chima Emmanuel Oriaku, Ministry of Science and Technology

Nwaobilor Ananaba, Ministry of Sports and Youth Development

Dr Chimezie Isaac Ukaegbu, Ministry of Trade, Commerce & Industry

Ngozi Blessing Felix, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation

After the swearing in, the commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during his reception at one of the hotels in Umuahia, thanks all those who came to witness their swearing in, and promised to perform his duty with all truth and trust, appeal for the support of all Abians, and promised not to disappoint the Governor who has chosen him.

Speaking earlier, the two members of the Nigeria union of journalists in Abia State, Comrade Ogbonnaya Iheaka, the first Abia State NUJ chairman and Comrade Obinna Ibe appreciated God for the chosen of a Media personal, as an information commissioner in the State, on behalf of all journalists in Abia State, promised to work in line with the new commissioner.
