Military Rescues over 100 Abductees, as 900 Insurgents Surrendered to Troops

The Military has rescued more than 100 kidnapped persons across the country, arrested over 40 economic saboteurs in the South, while about 900 insurgents and their families surrendered to the troops in the North East, within two weeks of operations.
Brigadier-General Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Deputy Director, Coordinator and Defence Media Operations, informed journalists about various operational breakthroughs, during the bi-weekly briefing on various Military operations nationwide, in Abuja.
General Ibrahim revealed that the North East recorded a huge number of rescued civilians while over 900 Insurgents and their families surrendered to troops at various locations in the area.

On the economic sabotage in the Southern part of the country, he said that the Military destroyed 30 illegal refining sites, 125 storage tanks in Niger Delta.
Furthermore, he that troops equally recovered 1,675,700 litres of crude oil, 74,500 litres of Automotive Gas Oil, 10 vehicles, 20 motorcycles, eight weapons and 330 assorted ammunitions during the operation, adding that N500 Million worth of crude oil was prevented from getting into the hands of oil thieves within the period under review.
According to General Ibrahim, all recovered items, apprehended suspects and rescued kidnapped civilians have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action
He applauded the troops for restoring peace to some trouble-spots and appreciated the efforts of “some patriotic citizens” who volunteered to provide information to security agencies. He encouraged Nigerians to continue to provide useful information, so that the activities of insurgents, kidnappers and other criminals can be curtailed.
