AKCCC Honours Minister of state for Housing and Urban Development

Kano the commercial city of Northern Nigeria, and the center of commerce in Africa was the reservoir as folks and friends as well as old boys and girls of Old boy Aminu Kano Community Commercial College (AKCCC) turned in numbers to the reception venue to honor Rt Hon.Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, the Honorable minster of state in charged of Housing and Urban development .

AKCCC community College founded 51 years ago up till date stood among the pillars of institutions in Kano state that had produced all outstanding leaders both in private and public office.

Over the weekend in Kano, it was a rewinding, celebrating galore as old boys and girls of the College Set of 1980 came together to relax and reconnect with themselves and also welcome home their mate Rt.Honorable Yusuf Ata who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Minister .

The occasion which started about 17 GMT in the Famous leader Hall of Comfort Suit and hotels Kano GRA started by opening speech by the Organiser and Secretary of the planning Committee, Alhaji Dalami Garba, a former permanent Secretary in Kano ministry of Education.

According to Garba, AKCCC remains the oldest co-exist Community College in Kano about 51 years ago when the College began .
And as the set of 1980, the old boys and girls as students then had remained united till date.

He stressed the importance of the occasion as not just honoring one of their own but the importance of coming together to Forster a strong association that will give back to the school and the society that had made great most of them

He said, his Committee together with the school board had proposed 10 years plans for strategic development of the College which includes infrastructure support needs,vision and mission that will make the school meet up with modern education in the twenty first century and urged the mates to key into it.

He mentioned some of the achievements of the school to include:
°the total shift from chalk board to white marker board recorded in all the classes in the College with support of year 2000 old student chapter

Direct registration of candidates for WACE/NECO since the college was taken over and the attainment of 75 to 85 range of 5 credit and above in English and Mathematics by students which give most access to universities.
Implementation of cashless fee collection and among others.

He said AKCCC is now a self -sustaining institution with all enhancement and operations needs of 100% from the College.

Alhaji Garba said, despite those achievements,the college is being faced with many problems and challenges which he hopes and prays with the help of the old students that are well to do and the Honorable Minister should come to the aid of the school.

He said,the most disturbing problem now at stake is the solar Borehole breakdown in which since there is constant power failure,the school had to resolve to buy water from the vendor’s ,a situation which is costing the school more resources.

He also said, AKCCC had no school bus and wanted the old students to help so their students could go to any event for participation seamlessly.

In his closing, Alhaji Garba expressed his gratitude to all who had contributed in development of AKCCC especially the Honorable Minster,Rt Hon.Yusuf Ata and the former AGF Alhaji Idris

The special Guest of the Day and an old boy of the school Alhaji ( Dr) Ahmad Idris ( Ajiyan Hausa) former Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) while speaking with news men said, today bring him back memories of the eighty , and he feels so delightful seeing his mates again.

He said, “there is a sense of fulfillment,sense of accomplishment and sense of oneness because we have come again to know ourselves once again ,some many years since we left school about 44 years .

He says “the significance of today’s occasion is that, today we are coming under one roof,under one fold to celebrate one of their own , a colleague ,a brother and class mate who is appointed by the President and we are thankful that God had kept us to witness today.

He said, the call to service is national service and he is happy to see one of their own mates being appointed It goes to show that AKCCC Kano then was a community College everyone then wanted to go because of the principle they were taught then.

He prayed Allah to grant Rt Yusuf Abdullahi the wisdom to deliver on his mandate and also thank President Bola Tinubu for appointing one of their own

Asked, how is life after service, Dr Idris was humorous and said, “as you can see I am going strong and living with my people with all happiness.

For Dr Ibrahim Waziri (Phd) in political economy, Executive Chairman of Hitech computer.two time govertorial candidates and a presidential flag bearer and an Elder state man from Bauchi state said, the occasion was indeed a home coming one and he is delighted to see most of his mates after many years back..

He said, Occasion like this makes one feel like a boy again and you can see ,how we are just shaking ourselves and calling our mates some old guy- names.that is the joy of old boys and girls of AKCCC.

We want this joy to continue and by building on each progress we had today.and before, AKCCC Kano had turned out many of us doing great and had contributed to nation building on our own part .
I believe the Honorable Minister being a brand of AKCCC had what it takes to better the lot of the people and nation and we thank the President for his appointment.

Former Principal of the College, Alhaji Musa Alhassan Danbatta who is still teaching up till date said, ” for me, I am happy to still be alive to see how great my students are doing.

” I feel proud every where I am because honestly,most of these students, majority of them today are all leaders in their different capacity and that is the joy of all teachers”

Remember the former Governor of this state Dr Shakaru was also my student and many of them ,so it is important the society and nation know that Teachers are nation builders and government must do what best to upgrade the welfare of teachers in the country.

The roll call on the occasion includes, Alhaji Idi Musa,Alhaji Aminu Bako, Aminu Sani Mandawari,Bar,Garba Yusuf Aka Mosquito, Alhaji Rabiu Bala Rabiu among several others.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a gift by Alhaji Bashir Sanusi Datata on behalf of the AKCCC Old boys and girls to Honorable Minster while friends,well-wishers and dignitaries were hosted at a Cocktail party.

The founding fathers of the college include: AIhaji Aminu Dantata, , Alhaji Umaru Trader, Alhaji Yusif Maitama Sule Alhaji Tankon Yakaasi KASAI and . Alhaji Sani Gezeawa among others.
