Bauchi Assembly Requests For An Urgent Fixing Of Roads Washed Away By Flood

The Bauchi State House of Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker, Danlami Ahmed Kawule has called on the State Government to act swiftly in the repair of the roads that were washed away by the flood.

Speaking immediately after the House’s sitting on Thursday, Abdul Ahmad Burra, the Speaker’s spokesperson said under matters of urgent public importance, the member representing Disina Constituency, Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibir requested the maintenance of a road that links Adamami, Disina Jama’are and Itas/Gadau that was affected by flooding.

According to him, the road is of great importance to the communities in the area due to its economic and social advantages, hence the need to maintain the road as it is currently not motorable.

He requested the House to seek the assistance of the state government by ensuring that the government repaired all the roads affected by floods in the state and put them back to use.

In his contribution, Majority Leader, Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu (Azare/Madangala Constituency) said that the roads need prompt attention and consideration, adding that as representatives of the people, it is incumbent on them to raise the matter since it affects their constituents.

He urged the government that since the House had passed the Bauchi State Infrastructural Maintenance Agency Bill into law, the government should inaugurate it and provide funds to enable the agency to swing into action.
