Chairman of the Bauchi State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ahmed Mohammed, has congratulated members who excelled in the recently concluded Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) 2022 Games held in the state.

The Bauchi State chapter of SWAN organised the games as parts of events to mark its Week.

Mr Ishola Michael of Nigerian Tribune emerged the Best Sports Writer 2021 for print category while Mr Armstrong Bakam of The Punch won 1st position in the game of scramble.

Mr Ado Hazard of DW Radio came third in the keenly contested Badminton game during the SWAN Week Games.

Speaking while presenting medals and trophies to the winners at its Congress on Thursday, Mohammed described their victory as a welcome development and motivation for all members and a victory for the entire chapel.

The Correspondents’ Chairman thanked the winners and pledged the continuous support of the Chapel leadership to supporting participation of members in sporting activities to win laurels for the chapel in future.

He thanked the SWAN Bamesi Coordinator for the Chapel, Mr Paul Orude of The Sun and his crew for their commitment to ensuring that members were adequately mobilised and participated in the 2022 SWAN week.

Mohammed, of Daily Trust, promised that the leadership would reward the members that won laurels for Chapel at the SWAN 2022 Games with as a booster and motivation for future successes.

Earlier while presenting the SWAN 2022 Games Certificate of participation to the Chairman at the Congress, the Chapel, who was supported by Nasir Shuibu of Coordinator appreciated the leadership for the financial and moral support.

“The incentives provided went a long way to encourage members during the period of training for the games.

“We are proud of the members that emerged winners for the chapel despite one of two challenges,” he explained.

Orude who stressed that the performance of the Correspondents’ Chapel Warriors who were knocked out in the group state by Bauchi Television (BATV) Chapel did not demoralized them as their conduct even in defeat was worth emulating in the spirit of sportsmanship.

He assured that with the kind of support got from the current leadership, a better outing would be recorded by members in the Chapel’s next outing to represent it
