The FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike has highlighted the ongoing demolitions in Abuja, emphasizing that the exercise aims at bolster security and restore order in the nation’s capital..

Speaking at his monthly media chat, Wike stressed that the demolitions will continue until all criminal hideouts are cleared.

Some Key areas Highlighted by the minister as a serious Security Concerns, he explained that demolished shanties serve as hideouts for criminals, including those involved in “one-chance” attacks and other security threats.

He stressed further, “No Excuses for Crime, ” cautioned against using poverty as an excuse for criminal activity, emphasizing that security is key.

Assured Government Support, Wike highlighted that the FCT Administration has established markets for traders, but many choose to sell on the streets, leading to refuse dumping and defacing of the city.

The Minister in terms of douse deficit described the idea of providing shelter for the poor as unsustainable, arguing that the FCT cannot shoulder the responsibility of providing housing for citizens who migrate from their home states.

Speaking on upcoming projects, Wike announced three projects in the city, including Gwagwalada and Gwarimpa, to encourage youth development and tap into sports as a significant revenue source.

On a sad note, the Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Head of FCTA Civil Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo who’s demised was made known to him in the morning
