Department of Civil Millitary Affairs Organises Sensitisation Workshop on Constitutional Responsibilities of Soldiers

The Department of Civil Military Affairs (DCMA) has organised a sensitisation workshop on the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Soldier through adherence to humanitarian and human rights laws at the HQ 2 Division Auditorium, Ibadan.

The sensitisation workshop took place on Thursday 28, September, 2023.

In his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Bamidele Alabi, represented by the Chief of Staff 2 Division, Brig Gen Beyidi Martins stressed the high premium the Nigerian Army placed on training of its personnel to ensure troops are kept abreast and informed to discharge their duties in line with international best practices.

The COS praised the Army High Command for choosing 2 Division to conduct the one day sensitisation workshop for troops of 2 Division Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Civil Military Affairs Major General Nosakhare Ugbo who was represented by Brig Gen Bola Keji while delivering the opening remarks, stated that the workshop has become necessary bearing in mind the level of engagements of troops in the day to day operation in the country.

This according to him require high level of discipline and professionalism from each soldier at all levels in order to ensure a successful operation.

He further stated that the Nigerian Army which is an arm of the Armed Forces of Nigeria has a sacred obligation to ensure that the personnel perform their duties within the ambit prescribed by law.

Two papers were presented during the lecture and the are- Understanding the Applicable Rules During Military Operations and Constitutional Responsibilities of the Nigerian Army Soldier through adherence to the Humanitarian and Human Rights Laws

In attendance are troops drawn for formations and units in and around HQ 2 Division Ibadan.
