Panyam District Development Association, PDDA, of Mwaghavul Nation in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, has condemned in strong terms the mystery behind the alleged disappearance of Ardo Adamu Gabdo who has been declared missing.
The Association also refuted allegations peddled by the Fulani umbrella body, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN and the Special Task Force Operation Safe HAVEN against its people.
A statement signed and made available to newsmen by the chairman of PDDA, Longse Jokle and secretary,Joshua Gufwan said, Panyam people have come to know and love him so much for his sterling qualities of forthrightness and craved for peaceful coexistence.
“It must be mentioned here that because of the love and trust panyam people have for the family of the missing Ardo, one of his siblings Mohammed Mantou Gabdo was elected by our people as a councillor representing us in the legislative Arm of Mangu local government council in1995.
“We are much more pained that this respected community leader has been declared missing.
“The saddest part of it all is that it’s this same people of panyam who loved him that much that are being accused of killing him.
“This accusation is viewed by our people as a calculated attempt by some forces to pitch us against the immediate family members of the Ardo and by extension all those who have come to know and love him.
“It will be needless to go through the narration behind the alledged dastardly act,but one thing that stands out clearly which must be stressed for the sake of history and posterity is the fact that the Ardo was not in panyam town on said date as alledged, not to talk of been in the palace of our revered traditional ruler”the Mishkaham Panyam”.
“But while we pledge that commitment, we want to express our displeasure with the remarks of some individuals who even when investigation was yet to commenced on the
disappearance of the Ardo, made incriminating statements against the good people of panyam.
“While we subscribed totally to the fact that assuming the Ardo is found dead,it must be act of criminal elements that are found in every society and of which such a blame should not be placed at our doorstep.
“While we lament over the unfolding events,we equally want to condemned in strong terms, action of STF who on Monday this week, moved the Mishkaham Panyam away from his palace to Mangu under the guise of questioning him on the disappearance of the Ardo who incidentally was one of the closest community leader to him.
“We therefore ask, why didn’t they questioned the traditional ruler in his palace.
“The risk of whisking him away at that unholy hour of the night to Mangu was a disrespect to our traditional stool.
“Would they do same to the traditional rulers of where they came from for whatever reason?.
“We have pledged our collective resolved to help the security unravel those behind the
disappearance of the respected Ardo if they are within our domain, but would want to call on the STF to leave our traditional ruler alone and to also allow the people of panyam to breath the air of freedom in the face continued arrest and detention of our people which goes on daily with the current one being that of Wednesday night.
“We mourned the brutal killing of three of our people in Atuhun panyam:Panshak Peter, Ishaku zumuk, and Yakubu Sokyes by suspected Fulani militias all whose corpses have been recovered from their farms where they were attacked.
“The have been buried in their respective villages which spans into Pushit District.
“We called on the law enforcement agencies to also go after the killers of this three people just as they do in other instances”, the statement concluded.
