In order to boost Internally Generated Revenue, the Chief Market Officer Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr. John Gbegbe Bango has advised the new Chairman of AMAC to discard the use of Technical Consultants in revenue collection at all AMAC owned markets.

The immediate past administration of AMAC engaged the services of various Technical Consultants to collect revenue in AMAC controlled markets, which did not go down well with some officials following the recent dip in revenue collection.

Mr. Bango however during a chat with some select Journalists in Abuja, yesterday faulted the use of Technical Consultants in collection of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) when there are competent professionals in the payroll of AMAC that can conveniently embark on revenue generation drive.

“I don’t know why they call them Technical Consultants. The shops are numbered and the revenue they pay to the government is fixed. As I am talking to you, we have not received our May, 2022 salary because of a shortfall in revenue collection. If they had employed the services of AMAC Market Officers, maybe the story would have been different.

“So while other staff are waiting to collect their June, 2022 salary, we are yet to collect our May salary. This is as a result of revenue leakages by the Consultants. There is no need to involve Consultants when you have various professionals who can collect the revenues. There are competent hands that can do this job. We have Chartered Accountants, some are Cashiers, some are Managers; we have Chartered Administrators who can do the job,” he said.
