Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with other security forces, have dismantled several terrorist enclaves in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, recovering weapons and other logistical items.

The successful offensive operation targeted identified terrorist strongholds in the general areas of Maharba and Karaduwa, where the security forces conducted a coordinated clearance operation supported by synchronised air strikes.

During the operation, the troops dislodged terrorist elements from the area and destroyed key logistical infrastructure reportedly used to launch attacks across Matazu and neighbouring Musawa Local Government Areas.

The troops also targeted the hideout of a prominent terrorist leader, identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Filani. The terrorist leader reportedly fled the area under intense pressure from the advancing troops.

A subsequent clearance of the abandoned hideout led to the recovery of an RPG-7 launcher, motorcycles, multiple mobile communication devices and assorted logistical and sustainment supplies.

The security forces also destroyed life-support structures and temporary shelters used by the terrorists, in a move aimed at preventing their return and reoccupation of the area.

No casualty was recorded among the friendly forces during the operation.

Following the offensive, troops conducted dominance patrols along key transit routes within the axis to consolidate the gains of the operation and ensure the continued protection of local communities.

The latest operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, deny them freedom of movement and disrupt their ability to launch attacks against communities in the North-West.
