Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled separate terrorist attacks in Zamfara State, rescuing 16 civilians who were being abducted in Kauran Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas.

In the early hours of Friday, August 28, 2026, troops deployed in Kauran Namoda LGA responded to a distress call over an ongoing invasion by suspected terrorists attempting to abduct residents of a community.

The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to flee in disarray.

Four male civilians were rescued unharmed, while the affected area was subsequently reinforced and secured by the troops.

In a related operation later the same day, troops operating in Tsafe LGA intercepted another attempt by terrorists to abduct commuters along a major transit route.

Upon arrival at the scene, the troops engaged the attackers in a heavy firefight, compelling them to abandon their captives and retreat.

A total of 12 passengers travelling in two commercial vehicles were rescued without injuries.

Following the successful intervention, normal traffic flow was restored along the route, while security measures were strengthened in the area to forestall further attacks.

The operations underscore the troops’ continued efforts to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and maintain security across Zamfara State.
