Federal government could not find Ogun refugees in Benin Republic

The Federal government said they were unable to find the Ogun State refugees who they said have flee to Benin Republic as a result of the incessant attack by the arm Fulani herdsmen.

The government said that the Nigeria Embassy officials who visited the community in Benin Republic, where they said the Ogun refugees were taken shelter, had returned to their communities in Nigeria.

Mr. Bolaji Akinrem, the Director of Consular Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this after much enquires on what the government was doing to bring back the refugees.

The displaced persons from Agbon, Ojodu, Moro, ASA, Ibeku, and other villages in Yewe Local Government Area of Ogun State, said they have ran away, abandoned their villages to take refuge in Benin Republic because of the incessant killings of the Fulani herdsmen. They said, over 20 people have been killed.
