Lassa Fever— Nigeria Records 25 New Cases
Nigeria has recorded 25 new cases of lassa fever.
According to the latest information from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, two health workers from Ondo State, are the latest people to be infected with the disease.
This brings the total number of people infected with the disease to 161 in the country.
Statistics shows that Edo state has the highest number of infected persons, with 73, Ondo State 38, and Taraba State 16.
Meanwhile, the death toll arising from the disease has now risen to 32, with Edo State having the latest casualties.
Lassa fever is caused by infected rats, and can be transmitted through contacted persons touching the faeces, or urine of an infected person, or urine of an infected rat.
Symptoms of the sickness include, fever, headache, sore throat, cough, nausea, vomiting, and chest pain.
