Group Visits NDLEA For Support

A Non Governmental Organization, Mega Impact Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the National Drug Law Enforrcement Agency (NDLEA)in Asaba, Delta State.
Speaking during the visit, the Initiator of Mega Impact, Mrs. Florence Ogonegbu said the visit is for partnership and support, adding that the organization wants to play its own role in ridding the society, especially the adolescents of substance abuse
Responding, the Delta State Commander of NDLEA Barr. Tunde Omotosin, said the fight against drug abuse is a menace to all and as a result, the agency is taking a multi versatile approach to tackle the issue by calliing and involving all stakeholders in Government including the CSOs and NGOs
Speaking further, Barr. Omotosin said that drug abuse is an offense that can only be prosecuted by the drug body saying that no State government has the power to prosecute and sentence a drug offender. He also said that there are 3 major strategies the agency adopts in combating the crime which are, supply control, this includes discovering and destroying places where the illegal substance are found, drug demand, this involves censorship and monitoring of drugs and treatment which involves rehabilitation and counselling as substance abuse can also lead to death. He therefore affirmed his support in partnering with the organization and promise to carry them along
Mega Impact Foundation is in partnership with relative Governmental and Non – Governmental organizations to bring about development for young people in Nigeria.
