Inmates Major Casualties In Jos Prison Break As 9 Dead, 252 Escape

About 9 inmates were reportedly death while 262 escaped jail term following the invasion of Nigerian Correctional Service, Jos Custodial Centre by unknown gunmen on Sunday.
Our correspondent learned that the attackers invaded Jos Correctional Centre at about 5:20pm on Sunday evening.
The assailants said were engaged in gun duel with the security personnel before they gain access into the correctional facility.
It was also gathered that nine inmates including one officer of the correctional center got killed during the gun battle.
It was observed that some of the sensitive documents were set ablaze by the hoodlums before they successful execute their mission.
Addressing Journalists on Monday in Jos the state, the Controller of Jos Correctional centre, Samuel Aguda said the assailants gun down one of its personnel before gaining entrance to the correctional facility.
Aguda confirmed that immediately they heard about the sad incidence they mobilize to the correctional together with other security personnel.
He said other security personnel couldn’t re-enforce to the correctional facility until after thirty minutes of operation because of the fear of being ambush.
According to Aguda,” nine inmates were recorded dead who jumped through in trying to escape.
“Seven hundred and eighty nine (789) inmates is currently in our custody.
“About two hundred and fifty two (252) inmates escaped from the jail while the police arrested nine and two inmates were brought back by their parents”, he mentioned.
Aguda who described the attack as barbaric and satanic opines that they have learned their lesson, noting that investigation is ongoing to unravel other escapees.
However, our correspondent observed that none of the attackers have been arrested yet.
