Judiciary: Court Upheld PLASIEC Appeal Against Laven

The appellant Court Jos Division, sitting at the temporary site has on Friday dismissed the appeal filed by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) against the embattled chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven for lack of merit.
The judge affirmed that the tenure of Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven didn’t expire as the time when PLASIEC conducted a kangaroo elections that usher in Barr. Bitrus Zulfa to illegally occupied the seat of Langtang North LGA .
You would recall PLASIEC in a joined suit with the Attorney general and Commissioner for justice Plateau State and Local government and chieftaincy affairs earlier besieged the appellant Court seeking for redress over the judgment of the lower Tribunal that was executed by Justice Ishaku Kunda in favour Laven.
Delivering the judgment on the matter, the presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Ali said, ” the appeal lack merit and I hereby dismissed it. The judgment of justice Kunda is affirmed.
Our correspondent learned that the appellants raised about 13 grounds of appeal, praying for the court to look into it.
Speaking shortly after the court verdict, Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven said, we want to give the glory first and the Judiciary for upholding the rule of law concerning democracy.
“We thank the Judiciary for standing in to protect democracy and the oppressed from being exploited.
Laven charged Governor Simon Lalong to adhere to the judgment as he is the beneficiary of the rule of law.
According to him, “I am expecting compliance from the Governor Lalong. I have been patience and I don’t want to take laws into my hands. It is a executory judgement or declarative judgement and it does not mean anybody should be truncated.
“By this judgement Government should not what to do because I won’t take law into my hands. I will wait to see what Government is going to do because this judgement is a constitutional matter, take it to every where it will still survive and nobody is above the constitution.”
He advised the imposter chairman Barr. Bitrus Zulfa obey the rule of law by adhering to the judgment and stop parading himself as chairman of Langtang North LGA.
It was learned that Hon.Joshua Ubandoma Laven won seven out of the eight court cases against Plateau State Government.
