Justice must be giving to people according to law-Governor Mutfwang…Plateau Judiciary observe 2023/2024 legal year

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr.Caleb Mutfwang has stated that Judiciary as a last hope of common man in the society must ensure justice is always giving to people according to prescribed law.
Governor Mutfwang also charged legal practitioners to strictly adhere for what is obtainable in the profession and rise up to the occasion of expunging the bad eggs within the cycle of legal system.
The governor throw the challenged Friday in Jos during the official commencement of 2023/2024 legal year ceremony of the High Court.
Governor Mutfwang was represented by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arch. Samuel Jatau said, it is high time to rise and protect the heritage of common people in the state.
He said government would continued strengthening frontiers of collaboration with the Judiciary and other Arms of government, assuring that the welfare of Judges and members of the Bar remain its priority.
Chief Judge of Plateau State, His Lordship, Hon.Justice David Mann, emphasized 2023/2024 legal year heralded with fresh opportunities and challenges.
According to him, “it is gratifying to state that our effort led to the repeal of the overused 1987 Plateau State High Court (Civil procedure) Rules and the birth of the current High Court (civil procedure) Rule 2020, which became operational on 30th November, 2021.
“The new Rules now conveniently places the Plateau state High Court at par with other jurisdictions which operate substantially the same Rules that accommodate our current realities and social milieu, as well as enhance speedy dispensation of justice.”
The Chief Judge said their vision for the year focus on; digitization of Court system, review of obsolete laws, continue education and training of Judiciary officers, revenue generation, promotion, staff welfare as well as discipline.
Attorney general and commissioner of Justice, Plateau State, Barr. Philemon Daffi, said government is looking forward to ensuring that all courts are equipped with the right digital technologies towards seamless and fast justice delivery in the state.
“Our resolve is to fight criminality, impunity, corruption, injustice and land grabbing with the firm believe that together we can build a better future for all and the time is now!”
