Nassawas: Gunmen Adopts NASIEC Secretary

The secretary of Nasarawa state Independent Electoral Commission ( NASIEC) Barr, Muhammad Opu was reportly kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Tuesday at his home town about ten kilometer to the state capital lafia north central Nigeria.
According to a press statement by the Police public Relations Officer,( PPRO) of Nasarawa state police command,ASP Ramhan Nansel and make available to news men in Lafia said,” the yet-to-be identified gunmen numbering about five stormed the residence of the secretary Barr. Muhammad Opu in Baking Rijiya,a village along Lafia- Shendam road between the hours 11.45 pm on Tuesday night and make away with the victim.
The police statement read, “On 25/8/2021 at about 0145 hrs, a complaint was lodged at C Division Lafia that on 24/8/2021 at about 23.45 pm unknown gunmen numbering about five stormed the resident of NASIEC Secretary located at Baking Rijiya village and kidnapped him”
The PPRO explained that, on receiving the information, the commissioner of police of the state, CP Adesina Soyemi immediately led a detachment of the police personnels from the command’s Anti- kidnapping unit, police mobile Force,counter terrorism unit, and other tactical units, to the scene.where the police suspect that the victim would have been held.
ASP Nansel inform the the newsmen that further action had taken by the Deputy Commissioner of police in-charg of Criminals investigation departments ( CID) who directed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter in order to rescue the victim and also arrest the perpetrators.
Members of the public has be ask to assist the police with useful information of any at their disposal that will help to arrest the criminal elements and rescue the Victim.
It would be recalled that NASIEC had announced that the Commission will conduct local government election across the 13 local government Areas of the state on October 6th for chairmanship or councilorship which may be ploy to distract the Commission Secretary from doing his works.
