Olokoro clan in Umuahia South celebrates iwaji ceremony in a ground style

The people of Olokoro clan in Umuahia South LGA of Abia state have performed their 2022 ‘Iwaji’ ceremony with a call to Ndigbo to embark on commercial farming system.

Speaking to some Journalists yesterday shortly after performing the ceremony at Olokoro central field, in Umuahia south LGA, in Abia State, the President General of Olokoro clan Development Union Mr Dike Nzenwa advised ndigbo to go back to farming, now that, things are very hard in our country, saying that, it has become very necessary because of the way, things are now costing in our country.

The president general described the 2022 Iwaji ceremony as superb one. expressing happiness that it was celebrated in ground style because according to him,’ some other things that were not supposed to be in the program were added as a way of making it to be more dynamic.

He said that, he was very happy with what happened. Saying that this year 2022 Iwaji ceremony, supercedes the past years. Promising that, that of the coming years will be more better.

He informed the pressmen, that the Iwaji ceremony in Olokoro clan is an annual event in which the Olokoro people comes together to eat their yam collectively. 

Also speaking with Journalists, the chairman Culture, and entertainment, of the Olokoro clan Development Union, Prince Ifeanyi Okezie described the Iwaji ceremony as a way of thanking God almighty for His fruitfulness love, protection, blessings, and mercy.
 

He pointed out that,” Iwaji ceremony, was organized by the community in honour of Ndi Eze of the clan and it is the Eze in council that perform the Iwaji ceremony”

The chairman of the culture and entertainment described the economic situation in the country, as a bad one, noting that the food crisis in the country,also affects the ceremony as many people have to resort to the market, to buy yams, instead of harvesting from their farms. He appreciated God, for preserving their life.
