The opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), Plateau State chapter has accused Governor Caleb Mutfwang of collecting funds from the Federal Allocation Account Committee (FAAC), since inception of office to the tune of over N400 billion and other forms of revenues including loans without nothing to show.

“It is in the public domain, that the Mutfwang government and it’s illegal Transition Implementation Committees since inception, collected over four hundred billion naira from FAAC and other forms of revenues including loans, without a project worth One hundred million to show for it either at the State or local government level. What a shame,” said APC

State chairman of the party, Hon. Rufus Bature raised the allegation during a stakeholders meeting held on Monday at the party’s secretariat in Kalwa House, Jos.

Bature, revealed the party is ready to win convincingly the chairmanship and councillors elections, set to be conducted by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) come 9th October, 2024, across the 17 local government councils of the state.

“We intend to not only participate in the contest but to clear the polls convincingly, based on our level of preparedness and the anticipated support from all of you, most especially the critical stakeholders.
“The APC is on the threshold of changing the political narrative, if we put our act together and capitalise on the inadequacies of the PDP led administration in the State.Take or leave it, there is a ground swelling resentment and disappointment with the performance of the Mutfwang government in Plateau State.

“Today’s meeting is an important one, because a lot has happened and also other impending matters such as the report of the reconciliation committee and the forthcoming local government elections will be foremost in our deliberations.”

The state APC chairman further stated that inspite challenges, the party has withered the storm, and able to maneuver it’s ways as well as continued to provide credible opposition through a quality voice and alternative solutions to governance.

“We have a date with history. It is high time we woke up and take advantage of the fast dwindling fortune of the PDP led government by recalibrating and reconstructing our support for our Party in order to regain our past glory.

“The PDP led government is not unaware of its dwindling popularity and visibility in the State, hence it is doing everything to stifle opposition voices in the political space. It is for no other reason than that, that the Mutfwang administration is afraid of conducting a free and fair local government elections hence the attempt to totally replace the 2017 the PLASEIC laws with an obnoxious one. Thanks to our members in the House of Assembly for outrightly rejecting the offensive provisions that the government attempted to introduce in the new law which provided that all election results will only be announced in Jos, the PLASEIC headquarters”, Bature mentioned.

Speaking on genuine unity of purpose among party faithfuls, the chairman said, “We know our problems and also know what to do, as well as how to solve them. It is often said that there are no bad soldiers but bad Generals. Therefore, for those of us in leadership positions, we need to come together and give the necessary direction to reach the desired destination.”
In another twist, Senator representing Plateau South in the 10th Senate, Simon Lalong has expressed disappointment over the inability of the speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Gabriel Dewan and other 17 members to inaugurated the remaining 6 APC members which Appeal Court validate their mandate since November, 2023.

Lalong, the immediate past governor of the state, said it is worrisome even the speaker is from the minority party YPP, but APC had deputy speaker, majority leader and also formed majority in the legislative chamber but failed to do nothing about it.

“The deputy speaker, majority leader and other members of the House of Assembly were there. Politics is a transition, and if you refused to do what is right tomorrow what is right would not talk for you…. That would be my appeal as a leader. I am not saying that we can imposing it on you, but we can impose it on you because that is the party and the party is supreme”, Lalong added.

Our correspondent reports that other personalities present at the APC meeting are; Senator Diket Plang, Senator Nora Daduut, Prof. Nentawe Yilwadat, Prof. Danladi Atu, Hon. John Dafang amongst other stakeholders.
