Plateau Revenue Service Targets N26b for 2023, Generates N7b in Three months

The Plateau State Board of Internal Revenue Service is targeting a whooping sum of N26 billion as internal generated revenue (IGR) for the year 2023 to enable government performed its responsibility effectively.
The Executive Chairman of the service, Mr. Dashe Arlat gave the hint on Tuesday at the service headquarters in Jos the state capital, during a quarterly press briefing.
Arlat revealed that the N26 billion revenue target is includes Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), adding that the service have so far generated N7 billion IGR from January to March, 2023.
“We have recorded a tremendous success since assumption of office in 2015. We set machinery in motion which aid us to gain about N20 billion IGR from 2015 to 2021. In 2022 the revenue have dropped to N14 billion.
Plateau revenue board chairman acknowledged that for the service to actualized it’s mandate in 2023, training and retraining of personnel to maximize revenue through the use of technology is very key.
” in 2023 we have come up with strategies to ensure effective revenue collection. We have finished the purpose and process, and now our focus is on the people because they are the purpose of the service and all that involved revenue collection.
“We have to continued educating the tax payers, that is our customers they need to know what we’re doing effectively so that they can be able to appreciate and give the service maximum cooperation.
” The process has gone through technology for the ease of collection, ease of assessment so that we can be able to build some level of confidence through ultimation.
“Almost 80â„… of Plateau citizens are tax providers as people have one land or the other and they are not been paying ground rent. We want to make sure that every body is captured so that our revenue will increase grossly. Our lifeline should be property tax, ” Arlat stated.
He charged business owners to make their database available to enable the effective optimization and maximization of services.
