Why NIN Is Mandatory For UTME Students– JAMB Registrar

The Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said the idea of introducing the National Identification Number NIN for the registration of UTME is for security reasons, and to check exam malpractices.

He stated this on Friday during a stakeholders meeting to kick start the registration of UTME 2021. He also said that the decision was from the Education Minister, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

Speaking further, he explained that we don’t even need the name of the candidate, we just want the NIN, we will then do the needful.

However, candidates must make use of accessible SIM cards, which has never been used for UTME registration.

Also, discussions are on going with the Minister of Communications, and digital Economy, Dr. Yisa Pantami to grant waiver to an estimated 20 percent of candidates without SIM cards.
