Twenty LGAs In Bauchi to Spend Over N65.8 Billion In 2023

Following the laying of the report to the Joint Committee on Appropriations, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on the proposed 2023 consolidated budget of twenty local government areas across Bauchi state by the Chairman House Committee on Budget and Appropriations, Mr Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, a member representing Kirfi Constituency at the state House of Assembly.

While laying the report by the Committee, he indicated that various engagements with all critical and relevant stakeholders had been fully anchored in the best interest of transparency, budgetary performance tracking as well as carefully scrutinized the proposed consolidated budget document of twenty local government areas across the state.

The Committee recommended the establishment of a Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state in collaboration with all 20 Local government chief Budget Officers, so as to enable the said officers master the art and strategy of budgetary management, implementation as well as rudimentary processes and budget index inline with IPSAS Acceptable budgetary preparedness and standards.

The Committed equally recommended that subsequent capital expenditure estimates of all the twenty local government areas, should also be given much attention and emphasis with focus on boasting, consolidating and strengthening the commercial activities and economic growth at grassroots across all the local government areas in the state.
