Abia Monthly Clean-Up Exercise For Month Of June a Successful

Abia State Permanent secretary, ministry of Environment, Mr Iheanyi Ubani has reiterated the need for Abia people, to take the monthly sanitation exercise serious and ensure that they should keep their Environments clean all time, making it cleared that a cleaning environment is healthy environment.
The permanent secretary, who was represented by a director, Environmental health and pollution control in the State ministry of environment, Mr Godson Agharanya, who was impressed with the turn up of people in this month of June clean up exercise, stating that he was satisfied with the exercise, as people turn up for the exercise. Stated that he saw residents cleaning environment, some were even cleaning the gutters.
He said even when they visited the orie ugba market, he saw some traders there cleaning their potions in the market.
The permanent secretary advised the Abians not to wait for Government to come and force them to clean their environment, stated that, if you clean your environment, you are living in healthy environment. He also said that ninety percent of communicable diseases, is from our environment. He advised the Abians to start obeying the government and start participating in the clean up exercise, since a cleaning environment is healthy environment.
The perm sec stated this to Journalists after monitoring today’s sanitation exercise in Umuahia in company with other staff of the ministry. He cautioned those with nonchalantly attitude to desist from such acts.
He made it clear that, the ministry, have a sanitation court, that holds on every sanitation day, at the state ministry of environment, for defaulters.
For those security agents, that collects money from the defaulters, when caught, and allow them to go, that time will come, for such people to be handled.
