ABIA MONTHLY CLEANING UP EXERCISE FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2023

The cleaning up exercise, for the month of October 2023 have come and gone with a call from the Honourable Commissioner for Environment Hon. Philemon  Ogbonna Asonye to all Abians, for them to cue into the  monthly cleanup exercise for optimal clean environments  in the state.

The Commissioner made this call after monitoring the month exercise, he said a clean environment, gives way for the breeding of  good health, which is wealth . He expressed his satisfaction at the level of compliance by the people in the state, stating that there is every need for all to comply, as the offenders will now be made to face the full weight of the law, nothing that it is not the desire of the government to punish any one for such an offense, rather  we want to make the cleaning of our environment, to become our  culture.

Contributing, the commissioner for transport in the state, who added his voice, promised that his ministry will  continue to  support the exercise in every way possible, he stated that, the turn out  of people is becoming encouraging, while eulogizing motor park managers for being part of the clean up exercise.

Also in his own contribution, the House of Assembly Committee  Chairman on Environment Hon. Mba Kalu Nwoke representing  Ohafia South State Constituency was full of praises for the state government saying that the state governor is doing a lot in the area of environmental cleanliness. Another member of the Committee, who also monitored the clean up exercise, Hon. Mathias Umeh of Umunneochi State Constituency called on all Abians to join hands with the state government to  make the monthly clean up exercise  a successful one. 

Some journalists in the state who monitored the cleanup exercise observed that the level of participation this time around is quite encouraging, as some tipper trucks were seen being  carting away refuse, though  some parts of the state capital in Umuahia  are still dirty, and still going to be attended to,  while  some drainages  in some areas, are yet to be scooped. However huge efforts are being .made to keep Umuahia the Abia State Capital clean in a no distance time.

Both some House of Assembly Members and top government Officials including some journalists monitored this month of October sanitation exercise.
