An energy innovation centre, Clean Tech Hub has called on stakeholders in Delta State to urge the Government to domesticate Renewable Energy policies in the State.

This was made known during a workshop organised for CSOs, and Government Stakeholders at Top Rank Hotel Galaxy, Asaba on Thursday.

According to the resource person, Mrs. Ifeoma Malo, the programme is to domesticate Renewable Energy Laws in Delta State, and have a legal framework for Climate Change.

Speaking further, she said the project will be a source of livelihood for people living in the rural area and also provide jobs for those in the labour market, adding that it will afford those in the Micro and Small Medium Enterprise(MSME) to learn how to use clean energy for their businesses, and urged Deltans to embrace the project, and use it to develop their communities.

She however identified lack of continuity, and trajectory as factors impeding against the Renewal Energy Project in the State, saying that six focal points have been prioritised for development which include, Agriculture, Health, MSME, Education, ICT and Security.

Meanwhile, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Mrs. Evelyn Aluta described environment as everything on land and sea, saying that green power is sustainable and profitable. She also said that the Renewable Energy Project will bring development and job creation. She therefore thanked Green Tech Hub for their initiative, and promise to support them in their project.

In her own speech, the Seniour Special Assistant to the SSG on Welfare and Social Works, Mrs. Pere said the Renewable Energy Framework is a good thing that will work well for the State, and urged all Deltans to support it and make it a success.

Prior to the Workshop, the team had earlier visited the office of the Executive Assistance to the Governor on Environment, Mrs. Evelyn Aluta, Dir. of Climate, Change in The Ministry of Environment, Mr. Victor and Seniour Special Assistance to the SSG on Welfare and Social Works, Mrs. Pere.

The grand finale of the workshop comes up in Sept, and the objective is to engage Civil Society Stakeholders to validate and consolidate the draft policy roadmap for the adoption of Decentralised Renewable Energy(DRE)in Delta State.
