African Military Games 2024 Kick Off in Grand Style

African Military Games 2024 kicked off in a grand style, dazzling display of athletic prowess on 20 November 2024 in Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, able represented by the Vice President Kashim Shettima, said “the games are not just about athletic competition; they’re a strategic platform for military diplomacy. With 19 sporting events and representatives from over 20 African nations, this tournament transcends traditional military interactions, creating a vibrant stage where discipline meets athletic artistry”.


The ceremony was wonderful and colourful. The Guards Brigade’s synchronized calisthenics were a masterclass in precision, while traditional performances painted a vivid picture of Nigeria’s rich cultural tapestry. Each movement, each drill told a story of national pride and military excellence.
Athletes emergencies from different nations like Ghana, South Africa Africa, Algeria, and the host nation Nigeria are expected to deliver show-stopping performances. With competitions running until November 30, sports enthusiasts and military buffs alike are in for a treat.


As the Games unfold, one thing is for sure: Africa’s military athletes are ready to prove that true strength lies not just in combat readiness, but in the ability to compete, celebrate, and unite.
