Army Officers wives stage campaign to eradicates cervical, breast cancer in Plateau

Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) have launched campaign awareness against deadly cervical and breast cancer disease bedeviling human population over decades.
The awareness campaign against cervical and breast cancer organized by NAOWA 3 Division Nigerian Army Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, held on Friday.
NAOWA decision was in tune with global demand to eliminates the spread of breast cancer among women through early dictation and treatment.
Chairperson of NAOWA 3 Division chapter, Mrs Fibishola Abubakar, said the campaign is aimed at rising awareness among military communities including wives of officers and soldiers.

“We will continue to role out programs on early dictation, prevention and treatment so that we can reduce mortality rate among numerous infected persons, especially women who vulnerable on the society.”
While appreciating General officer Commanding 3 Division Nigeria Army and commander operation SAFE HAVEN Jos, Major Gen. AE Abubakar for his passion towards productive and healthy lifestyle of women folk, chairperson of the association said they were ready to partner with any relevant agencies in fighting the menace of breast cancer.
Nurse Judith Onwunyirunwa, who spoke on cervical cancer and treatment, stated that human papilloma virus can lead to cervical cancer due to untimely information and adequate treatment.
She pinpoint three preventive methods of cervical cancer, which includes; primary-vaccination, secondary-screening and treatment as well as tertiary-treatment and re-screening.
Midwife Amarachi Favour who dealt with breast cancer revealed that, the case of breast cancer in Nigeria account for 22.7â„… due to lack of breast examination, as she suggest keeping a healthy weight, physical activeness among amongst others as method of prevention.

Other medical experts, Dr.Ekom, Major E.Effiong and Dr.Okon Samuel Bassey who shed their thought stated that next to prostate cancer in men is liver cancer which occur mostly as a result of excessive alcohol intake.
They cautioned citizens against herbal medication which is not a cure rather lead to cancer infection. “Take diet such as fruits, reduce alcoholism and excessive exposure of body to the sun.
Our correspondent reports that, a one day cervical and breast cancer awareness campaign featured health walk, cancer prevention, medical screening for prostate liver/liver cancer, medical check up which includes; blood pressure, check, fasting sugar and Aerobic.
