Beta Edu vows 136m Nigerians will work out of poverty in Tinubu’s govt

Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Betta Edu, affirmed on resumption of office Monday afternoon that the administration of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu will rescued 136 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next few years.
The minister expressed this at the reception meeting with ministry’s Chief Executive Officers.
Ms Edu who’s a former Cross State commissioner for health was among the 45 ministers inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential Villa in Abuja.
I am determined to run a transparency and accountable government in the ministry in line with president vision for new Nigeria.
The minister reiterated her determination to work the talk to enable the ministry achieve the set objectives through different interventions and initiatives aimed at lifting 136millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
The missionary daughter who claimed to have seen it all said: “What is most important is that the ministry is ready to work towards rescue million Nigerians out of poverty.
She emphasized, “We can do it but in phases, a step at a time she said, with determination and strong will, nothing is impossible.
“We will also achieve the feat with the strong political backing from His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu and every member of the cabinet.
“We will play down on politics because we are here to face the real business of governance.”
Ms Edu calls it unacceptable alarming rate of poverty in the country, stated that all hands must be on deck to address the challenge.
“Different sources of data suggest that we have a population of 200 million Nigerians, which I think we are more than that.
“Out of this population, the sources indicated that 71 million are extremely poor and that is unacceptable.
“We therefore need to work with the speed of light to bring smiles on the faces of Nigerians.
As a matter of urgency, we must reach out to those who are underserved and renew their hope, the minister said.
She also revealed going forward, we must ensure that we will increase our efforts, and be very sincere, transparent, and accountable”.
Ms Edu said she’s convinced God has brought her to the ministry of humanitarian and poverty alleviation for a purpose and that Nigerians will soon feel the impact of her target for eradication of poverty out of the country
