Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has commended the Christian Mothers for the critical roles Dr. Ikpeazu Lauds Mothers’ efforts in building the nation
Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has commended Christian Mothers for the critical roles they are playing in ensuring prudent management of their family resources and proper upbringing of their children for the betterment of the Nation and society.
Dr Ikpeazu who made the commendation during the 2022 Mother’s Day celebration and Thanksgiving Mass of the Catholic Women Organization of the Matei Dei Cathedral held at the Cathedral Parish, Azikiwe road, Umuahia also appreciated Mothers for not only making their homes a peaceful place, but for all the works they have been doing in the propagation of the Gospel of Christ in their various Parishes and Churches.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu used the occasion to remind women of the need to change the narratives of misgovernment and not getting it right by using their numerical strength to vote in purposeful leaders that are capable of delivering sound democracy dividends at various levels for the benefit of future generation.
He further encouraged Mothers to advise their children on voting right, while Christians should get involved in politics to enable them determine who manages the affairs of their various States and Nation and called on men and women of goodwill to continue to pray for stability and peaceful transition across the Nation.
Earlier in his Homily, the Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province and Apostolic Administrator of Umuahia Diocese, The Most Rev Dr Lucius Ugorji called on all to use this year’s Mothers Sunday to reflect on the sacrificial and important roles Mothers play in the growth and successes of their various family Churches and Societies and show them love, appreciation and support.
Archbishop Ugorji who pointed out that the period also affords all Catholic Faithfuls the opportunity to celebrate the Divine Mercy Sunday which signifies the sacrificial gift of peace, forgiveness and healing Jesus Christ brought through His death and resurrection for the redemption of Man and enjoined Christians to be ambassadors of peace and reconciliation everywhere they go.
Also speaking, the General Manager, ASEPA and Chairman on the occasion, Sir Kingsley Chinkwem thanked God for granting them another opportunity to celebrate their Mothers for the wonderful roles they are playing in their lives and prayed for more blessings upon their lives.
The 2022 Mother’s Day celebration with the theme ” The Woman (Catholic), The Heart Of The Family” featured special Thanksgiving by Catholic Mothers of the Parish and unveiling of the Maria Statue donated by the CWO members attracted the presence of Top Government Officials, the Clergy and other notable personalities are playing in ensuring prudent management of their family resources and proper upbringing of their children for the betterment of the Nation and society.
