INEC confirms distribution of governorship, state Assembly election materials in Plateau

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has confirmed the disbursement of sensitive materials across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau ahead of Saturday’s 18th March, 2023 governorship and state Assembly elections.
Our correspondent learned that the commission deployed ballot papers and result sheets for onwards usage come Saturday in 207 registration areas and 4,989 polling units of the state.
Plateau state resident electoral commissioner, Dr.Oliver Agundu who received the sensitive materials Wednesday at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters Jos, said Plateau is amongst the first state to reconfigured all their Bimodal voters accreditation system, BVAS, machines.
According to Agundu, ” this is the climax of our electioneering period. For us here in Jos plateaustate,like other states in the Federation, this is the last lap of the elections.
“Like we did the other time, our duty is to availed you the opportunity to inspect the election materials we have been received and kept here at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and after the inspection we have already made arrangement to deployed them in all the 17 LGA of the state to signal the electioneering process in respect to governorship and state Assembly elections.
” What we are going to inspect are basically ballot papers and result sheets for governorship and state Assembly elections. And we expect that all of them should be in right quantity, because we have not seen them like all of you. This is going to be the first time that we are having the opportunity to unbundle and open them to see exactly the content.
“We hope that all the major critical stakeholders, security agencies, political party agents, media and observers would give us maximum cooperation for this symbolic exercise will be smooth….
Branch controller of CBN Plateau State, Mrs Esther Tinat while handing over the election materials to INEC acknowledged that it were delivered to them signed and sealed.
” Last week the ballot papers and result sheets for both governorship and state Assembly elections in the 17 local government council of Plateau was delivered to us signed and sealed “, she stated.
