From Marcel Duru, Owerri
A philanthropist High Chief Benneth Nwokejiobi – the Lord Duke of Owerre-Nkworji in Nkwerre Local Governmemt Area of Imo State has once again risen to the occasion with the financial empowerment of indigent women to upscale their trading activities.
In a well-organized ceremony at Umueke village, Owerre-Nkworji attended by women from all the villages in the community, Chief Nwokejiobi charged the women to vote for Governor Hope Uzodimma in the November 11th governorship election in Imo State.
Addressing the gathering, the Lord Duke reminded them how he donated the pick-up truck for the local vigilante group and equally installed street lights across the entire community as a private citizen.
“You will never go hungry again”, Nwokejiobi promised the women while narrating how he built houses for poor and vulnerable women in the community and provided the seed money for the take off of the Owerre-Nkworji civic centre.
He cautioned the women not to be fooled by the antics of deceitful persons in the community who want them to suffer untold hardship in the name of poverty as he gave the 267 indigent women N50,000.00 each.
Recalling how Governor Uzodimma’s administration rehabilitated the Owerre-Nkworji Health Centre, Chief Nwokejiobi announced that four kilometres of road will soon be delivered to the community courtesy of the Governor whom he described as a father, friend, and brother of Owerre-Nkworji.
In the same vein one of the popular politicians in the area who gave his name as Chief Ken Ukonu said that this is not the time to force people to vote against their conscience
“Owerre-Nkworji people will vote the right candidate that will salvage the entire state and stop insecurity in Imo State”
