The committee set up by Plateau State Government on burnt veterinary teaching hospital, University of Jos has tour the facility and assured government prompt intervention.

The committee chairman and Commissioner Plateau State ministry of Housing, Hon. Brian Dadi led other members in an under spot assessment to ascertain the level of damage of the facility that was burnt down as a result of tanker carrying petroleum products which got accident at Polo round about, Jos North LGA recently.

Dadi while commiserating with the management of Veterinary clinic said ” as a Government it is sad such gigantic edifice burnt down overnight looking at the volume of huge resources put on the ground.

He acknowledged that part of the committee’s terms of reference is to ensure the place is well clean up and habitual for effective used, stating that there is certain intervention to be made by the government to make the facility better.

“Having go round the facility and ascertain the level of damage as a result of the ugly scenario that occurred, I can assured you the committee will go back, seat down and come out with recommendations which we strongly believe Government is ready to do something”, Dadi explained.

The Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Head of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital University of Jos, Prof. Lami Lombin said the unfortunate development has pulled the Institution back considering the fact that equipments which led to the accreditation of the Institution has been burnt down completely.

Lombin revealed that the Institution have about 37, 000 clients within two years of its existence, adding that they are in process of upgrading before the unfortunate incidence happened.

She plead with the Plateau State Government to construct a concrete wall at the institute to avert future occurrence. She also called on the National Emergency management agency (NEMA) and State Emergency management agency (SEMA) to put their heads together to work out modalities towards cushion the effects of excruciating pains of petty traders that were affected in the area.
