Police Records 64 Defilement Cases In Plateau, Apprehend 25 Suspects

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, Plateau State Command, has confirmed recording 64 cases of rape and defilement of minors in the period under review.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah, made the disclosure while speaking to newsmen at the Command’s headquarters in Jos on Friday, paraded 25 suspects in connection to various crimes in the state.
Ewah revealed that since assumption of duty in Plateau about three months ago, the prevailing cases of rape and defilement most especially the minors is alarming, citing a case of 9 year old girl that was Defiled by 43 year old.
He said:”on the 11th of Apirl 2026, at about 20:00hrs we received a report at Langtang South Divisional Headquarters, that one Nanmwa Vongjen, male, 43 years old lured a 9 year old girl into his room in Fajul Village of Langtang South LGA and defiled her. As a result of the forceful penetration, the victim sustained serious injury in her private part.

“Upon receipt of this report, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where she is currently receiving medical attention, while the suspect was arrested and detained for further investigation.
“In the course of interviewing the suspect, he admitted to the crime, and claimed that he acted under the influence of alcohol”, the CP mentioned.
He further explained that 9 Sura-Suka cult members were arrested with dangerous weapons in Jos North local government which upon interrogation they confess they attempted to cause mayhem in Angwan Rukuba community.
According to the CP, “on 30/04/2026 at about 08:30am, the following suspects were arrested by the Divisional Police Officer Nasarawa Gwong Division; one Abubakar Abdullahi, Amir Ibrahim, Rabiu Suleiman, Babangida Usman, Adam Abdullahi, Umar Adam, Khalid Mohammed, Sani Husaini and Suleiman Salihu, all male of Bulbula, Dilimi, Jos North LGA based on credible intelligence received from an informant.
“The suspects were reported to have conspired together, armed themselves with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and attacked the following persons at Dilimi Street; one Nawash Aliyu, Mohammed Lawal, Idris Nasiru, and Kabiru Ibrahim.
“In the course of the attack, one Kabiru Mohammed sustained bodily injuries.Upon interviewing the suspects and conducting a preliminary investigation, it was discovered that both parties are members of different Cult Groups that specialize in terrorizing innocent citizens in Dilimi Community.
“On 05/04/2026 at about 02:00pm, one Musa Adamu, and Mohammed Abubakar, both male, were arrested at Gudus village, Bashar District of Wase LGA.
“The suspects were following an isolated route usually used by armed bandits to attack innocent citizens in Kukawa and Gudus Villages.
“In the course of investigation, the suspects revealed that they are responsible for conveying cash and other materials to bandits in their hideouts.
“The following items were recovered in their possession; Ten (10) packs of Cigarette, cash sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00k) only, Airtel Recharge Cards, and various objects used in taking illicit drugs”, he added.
The CP assured all suspects will be charged to Court as soon as Police done with investigation.
