Professor Greg Ibe, PhD, OFR, the (Enyi Abia) the chancellor of Greg Ibe University Uturu, won the governorship primary election of the All Progressive Grand Alliance
(APGA) in Abia state.

Prof Ibe, polled a total votes of 283 votes to defeat his second rival the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN) Etigwe Uwa
 who pulled a total votes of 148, to come second.

 The other three aspirants in the primaries include a retired Army General, Ijeoma N Ijeoma, who got 36 votes, while Chief Chikwe Udonsi, came last with 12 votes.

 After the primary election, the returning Officer, of the primary election, one Echezuna Etiaba, later declared Professor Greg Ibe the winner of the APGA Governorship primary election.

He made it known that a total number of accredited votes for the primary election was 482  votes, while a total number of valid votes cast was 479, only 3 votes was invalid.

During his acceptance speech, after he was declared a winner, Prof Greg Ikechukwu Ibe, first appreciated the almighty God, for his blessings, faithfulness, his unbounding grace and  unfailing mercy. Ibe also conveyed his thanks to the organizers of the state party Governorship primary election, stating that, since he has received the mandate given to him by the his party members, that with every sense of responsibility, he promised to work together with evey members of the party, for the success of the party, come 2023 general election.

He said he will remain grateful to the entire members of the national working committee of the party, the state chairman of the party, Rev Ehimere, his co-contestants, General Ijeoma N Ijeoma, Barr Etigwe Uwa, San, and  Chief Chikwe Udensi, all the party delegates, including all the party members, and the national chairman of the party Ozonkwu Victor Oye. He also stated that, in the actual sense, all of them are winners, declaring that, no Victor no Vanquished, therefore estend his hand of fellowship to all.

He thanks all the security agencies in the state, that monitored the primary election, the Army, the Police, Navy, Nscdc, Dss and others for helping in maintaining peace during period. He equally thanks all the support groups from the 17 local government areas of the state.

He urged all the party members in the state not to relent, but to do their best for the party to win the governorship, come  2023 general election, for the betterment of all Abians.
 
Professor Ibe assured that God has heard the cry and prayers our people, and have subsequently commenced the salvation of the state, he reminded all Abians that is not going to be an APGA affair alone, that every hands need to be on desk, for the actualization of success, come 2023 general election in the state.
 
 He promised Abians for a better Abia State.
