The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said on Friday, that restructuring calls people are making will not meet the long term aspirations of Nigerians for a better life.

The Minister said, it’s unfair tagging the present hard condition of the nation, to President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, that the problem the nation is facing, supposed to be fought with patriotism, and love. He said, the Nation has to be united for them to be able to fight the challenges rocking the nation.

The Minister stated this, while delivering lectures at the 34th Convocation, at the University of Calabar, in Cross River State. Titled, “Beyond Our Imperfect Union” The National Question, and Nigeria’s Future.

He said, in recent days we have started hearing loud voices of disunity from different sections of the Country concerning the Nations current economic difficulties, and the problem of insecurity. Because of it, some are insisting on restructuring, some advocating increase in regional autonomy, while some extremist, are calling for secession of parts of the Country from the Federation. But they have forgotten that non of this will serve the urgent needs of this nation, or the long term aspiration of all our people for a better life in a happier nation.

The Minister said in conclusion, that we just have to be careful to avoid doomsdays predictions, that the poor would have overran Nigeria if inequality, and extreme poverty were not addressed.
