SECTOR 2 OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA ESTABLISHES FORWARD OPERATING BASE IN SAYAYA, KATSINA STATE TO COMBAT BANDITRY AND FACILITATE RETURN OF DISPLACED PERSONS
As part of effort at restoring peace and security to communities affected by terrorists and bandits activities, Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA has established Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sayaya, Matazu Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.
The deployment was necessitated by the persistent threats posed by armed bandits, which had previously forced residents to abandon the community and flee for their safety. Consequently, The deployment will cut off terrorists from using the community as a staging area to carrying out attacks and as a supply route to their enclaves which were already destroyed by troops during the conduct of Operation CLEAN SWEEP Iii
The establishment of the FOB is designed to dominate the area, neutralize terrorist and bandit elements as well as restore security to Sayaya and its environs. Consequently, the troops’ presence is expected to build confidence within the populace, enabling displaced families to safely return to their ancestral homes and resume their farming and other socio-economic activities.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the lives and properties of all law-abiding citizens. We assure the people of Katsina State, and the nation at large, that our troops will continue to conduct robust operations to rid the region of banditry and all forms of insecurity.
Members of the public are enjoined to continue supporting the military and other security agencies with timely and credible information to aid our operations.
