Troops Repel Terrorists, Recover Two Motorcycles in Kebbi
Troops conducting counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in Kebbi State have successfully repelled an attack by suspected terrorists along the Wasagu–Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area, forcing the assailants to flee and abandon two motorcycles.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out on 24 July 2026 following credible intelligence indicating that armed terrorists had blocked the strategic Wasagu–Ayu Road, posing a threat to commuters and residents.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops deployed in the area mobilised to the scene to confront the terrorists. On arrival, the soldiers made contact with the criminal elements and engaged them in a fierce firefight.
Overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower, the terrorists retreated in disarray, abandoning two motorcycles as they fled the area.
The troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal route in a bid to prevent their regrouping. However, no further contact was established during the pursuit.
The successful operation highlights the military’s sustained offensive against terrorist and bandit groups operating in the North-West, as security forces continue to intensify efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and restore safety along major roads and communities in the region.
Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the country.
