Imo State Governor senator Hope Uzodimma has advocated Stakeholders meeting as a preventive mechanism that will stop excess of sitting governors in Imo State.

Uzodimma made this comments during a stakeholders meeting held recently at the Government House Owerri, Imo State.

He disclosed that the sordid experience of the past seems obvious that stakeholders should take a proactive steps to ensure that never again shall one man rape our state in broad daylight while we watch helplessly like strangers.

Uzodimma further stated that Imolite must find a way to hold the governor elect accountable while in office, adding that if we have preventive mechanism in place, our common patrimony could not have been appropriated at will under our watch.

“Regular stakeholders meeting offers a veritable platform for scrutinizing the actions of government and sound reasonable to suggest that it should be institutionalized by law, we should make a stakeholders meeting with a sitting Governor a statutory and mandatory exercise which should at least twice a year.

There should be provision for penalty against a governor that fails to comply with the law, after he or she leaves office, and in this direction incumbent governors will at least be conscious of the legal imperative of accountability”
