“We’ll deliver on projects”- Chairman house com on constituency outreach assures Nigerians

The newly inaugurated Chairman, house committee on constituency outreach, Rt Hon Dickson Tarkighir has assured Nigerians of the 10th Assembly readiness to delivered on constituency projects to Nigerians.
Chairman stated this in a brief interview with journalists shortly after the inauguration of 39 members that included the chairman and deputy at the Federal house of representatives new building on Wednesday.
He emphasized that by the political will of the leadership of the house of representatives, Speaker, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas who found them worthy of the mandate to ensure a proper follow up and implementations of members’ constituency projects.
When asked how that can be achieved, the Representative of Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State said, despite allegations of non Implementations of projects by members by Nigerians, to me these are unfounded allegations, arguing that, as a second timer, I could recalled then how hard I worked to ensure every projects is delivered.
“I was here 2011-2015 & now 2023. I thank God for the opportunity given to me by the speaker house of representatives, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas to chair the committee on constituency outreach. With my colleagues, we will make the speaker proud for given us this opportunity to serve. The committee comprises of 39 Reps members one from each State plus FCT and chairman with his deputy.
The chairman said the agenda of the constituency outreach committee among others things is to attend to 360 constituencies of the members in this country as mandated by the Act of National Assembly, constituencies Bill, 2016.
Rep Tarkighir explained that the committee was charged with the responsibility of supervising the activities of constituency projects of the lawmakers, their Social investment programs (SIP) and
Dual Inline Packages (DIP) to ensure whatever is meant for members dutifully gets to them.
He equally said, “we are ready to work to ensure members set up constituency offices in their office to ensure when constituents who finds us come go in there and find a place to seat down so that when they returned they will speak well of our presentations”.
He further explained, the aim of this committee is first and foremost to take care of the interest of members, to ensure whatever is due to any constituent gets to them and to their constituencies.
The committee chairman stressed that members will always strive to delivered on their promises for this is one of the ways to guaranteed another turn, Tarkighir concluded.
However to ensured constituency projects are implemented by the members, the chairman said the question of diligence follow up on colleagues to deliver on their promises is achievable with political will and with God on our side will do it!
