Wike recalls council boss suspended for illegal taxation

PORT HARCOURT – GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike has lifted the suspension of Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government (LG) Victor Ihunwo in Rivers state.

The Governor had suspended Ihunwo from office back in July for alleged illegal tax collection.

The governor lifted the suspension in a statement signed Monday by Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo.

The SSG’s statement captured that, “The Chairman is to resume normal duties immediately, and has been strictly warned to abide by all the rules governing local government administration.

“He is further warned to desist from engaging in all forms of illegal or double taxation or any other acts against public interest.”
