Transport university of Nigerian to Start Academic Session in September – Ameachi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi has said that the first transport University in the country will begin academic session in September this year.

The Minister declared this while inspecting construction works at the University site in Daura, Katsina state North Western Nigeria.

Ameachi expressed his delight at the current speed of work at the site when compared with the space of works in his previous visit.

He charged the Permanent Secretary of the ministry to expedite action for the commencement of the academic session.

“I have asked the contractors and they told me, ‘there are seven (7) buildings more to be built’. I have directed my permanent Secretary to ensure speed, so the buildings can be completed on schedule.”

“I’m now impressed by what I have seen, unlike my last visit when I was unhappy do to slow pace of work. We are targeting September for the academic sessions to start, this will enable Nigerians have the opportunity of reading courses in transportation,” the Minister emphasized.

Also, on the inspection of the Kaduna -Kano Standard Guage Railway terminal in Kano state, the honourable minister acknowledged progress of work but quick to point out some identified areas of challenges especially in the land allocation for the project.

He said “Are there challenges? Yes there are challenges with the land allocated for the project and we hope to resolve that with the Kano state Governor who gave us the land and that is the right way to go,” he explained.

According to the honourable minister, further directive has been given to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Ajani Magdalen to ensure the construction company CCECC, the project consultant, TEAM and Kano state government have a meeting and addressed all issues of dispute and the reports reached his table latest this Friday.

The minister also inspected the Dala Dry Inland Port, Kano, where he ordered the MD Ahmed Rabi’u to quickly finished up the remaining part of the project, particularly the landscaping for the presidential commissioning.

“For the structures, they have gone far but I want them to finish the landscaping, so that I can bring the President to commission it soon,” he reemphasized.

Ameachi also paid a courtesy visit on the Emir of Daura , Umar Farouk to inform him on the progress of work at the Transport University as well as intimate him on his declaration to become the President of Nigeria, seeking his Royal Blessings.

The Emir who appealed to the minister to ensure that ” the Transport University project is completed in good time.”

Assured him, as a title holder and Dan Amana of the Daura Emirate, all necessary support will be given for your presidential ambition, and prayed for his success
