The wife of the state governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, with the wives of the Nigeria correctional officers, are to train inmates on skills acquisition in the state.

The wife of the state governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, and the Wives of Nigeria Correctional Officers, are To Train Inmates On Skills Acquisition, the Nigeria century news update, correspondent in Umuahia, report that,
the wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, said that she is ready to partner with women organisations like that of the Nigeria Correctional Officers Wives Association are to train inmates on skills acquisition so that when they are reintegrated back to the society they will not go back to crime again.

The Governor’s wife stated this when members of the Nigeria Correctional Officers Wives Association paid her a courtesy visit in her Government House Office recently.

According to her “as the wife of the Governor, I am always looking forward for women organisations to partner with in the training of the girl child, empower the youths as well as ending abuses and all kinds of violence in the society” she said.

Earlier, the Chairperson Nigeria Correctional Officers Wives Association, Mrs. Ijeoma Kalu, said that having had so much good work the Governor’s wife had been doing for the youths, the down trodden and the vulnerable women in Abia, she decided to come with her members to familiarise with her.

According to her, “we have seen your good work speaks for itself and have seen a common ground to partner with you.

“On our own as wives of correctional officers, we task ourselves to care for inmates especially those who came with children and now we have a mind of building a skills acquisition centre so that those inmates can acquire a skill and get back to the society better persons ” she said.
