ABIA PUBLICITY COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR 2023 CENSUS INAUGURATE STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR

The Abia state Census Publicity Committee members for 2023 Population And Housing counting inaugurated with a charge, for them to create an aggressive awareness, on the commencement and the importance of the participation in the population and housing census exercise.
Speaking while inaugurating the Publicity committee members for the 2023 census, at the hotel Royal Damgrete, in Umuahia, the State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said that, the importance of having an accurate and authentic census figure for the State and the Nation in general and cannot be overemphasized as it will afford the Govt, both State and Federal levels to ascertain the exact demographic data of it’s citizens for adequate planning and development purposes.
He noted that, apart from Government knowing the accurate and acceptable census, it will help in annual budget planning as demographic data population as one of the indices Federal Govt to consider the allocation sharing formula to various States of the country and stresses the need for the Committee to do the needful and ensure that, the state is not shortchanged in terms of inadequate and accurate population database.
The Deputy Governor who also the State Chairman of the 2023 census Committee, appealed to all Abians and entire South East Zone to take the issue serious, in making themselves available during the capturing. He condemned the attitude of some persons, who threatening the people against participating in the census exercise, saying, it is meaningless.
He used the opportunity to commend NOA and the DG BCA, Anyaso Anyaso and also the Management of the national population commission in the state, for the so far sensitization of the programs and called for the use of the state radio Station, as an effective tool, in creating the much needed awareness to ensure that the State recorded a very reliable and acceptable population result, assuring that, Govt will do everything possible, to ensure a successful population and housing census exercise result in the State.
In his address, the Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Abia State, Chief Johnny Nwabuisi who disclosed that figures attributed to the State is not comesurate with what is on ground in terms of population and assured that the National Population Commission is irrevocably committed to ensuring that the 2023 census is done rightly and professionally.
During her address, the State Director, NPC, Lady Juliana Ezebuiro stated that, the seeking of a full fledged of participation towards the 2023 population census, has become very necessary to right all the demographic wrongs attributed to the State and promised that the Commission is determined to reach every nook and cranny of the State as the overall gains is very overwhelming.
The state census publicity committee members, include the the GM, NTA, Mrs Nkechi Onyedibia, the State Director, NOA, Mrs Chibuogwu Edede, the state CAN chairman, Senior Apostle Emma Agomuo, the state NUJ chairman, comrade Victor Ndukwe, the BCA DG, Anyaso Anyaso, the representative of the federal ministry Information in the state, Mrs Gloria Abiakam, the state chairman, of the traditional rulers, Eze J. Nwabeke and some journalists in the state.
The event featured the decoration of the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu with the population insignia as an advocate of the National Population and Chairman of the Committee attracted the presence of some important person’s in state, and stakeholders.
