CDS Visits Childhood Community, Inaugrates Project as he Revisits Childhood Memories
The Gwiwa Community in the Sokoto low-cost housing estate was filled with warmth as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, revisited cherished memories during a visit to his childhood neighborhood.
A statement endorsed by the Director, Defence Information, Major General Tukur Gusau, on Tuesday, disclosed that General Musa, who celebrated his birthday on 25 December 2023, joyfully reunited with the Gwiwa Low-Cost Community where he was born and raised.
The statement read in part; “As a meaningful gesture, the CDS inaugurated a hospital project within the community, emphasizing his commitment to improving the well-being of its residents. He also took a trip down memory lane, visiting Mallam Yahaya Abdulkareem Model Primary School, formerly his alma mater from 1974 to 1980.



“Embracing a people-centric approach, General Musa undertook the renovation of the Gwiwa Community hospital, fostering connections with old neighbors and childhood friends.
“The community, expressing their gratitude, rallied together to commend the CDS, displaying placards to convey their appreciation for the newly commissioned hospital.
The statement recalled that on the preceding day, as part of his Christmas and birthday celebrations, the CDS generously distributed hampers and cash to ailing personnel during his visit to the Defence Headquarters Hospital immediately after the church service.



General Musa, fostering morale and camaraderie, shared a Christmas lunch with the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, urging them to remain steadfast in the fight against terrorism.
He assured the troops of his unwavering support and conveyed the President’s goodwill message, emphasizing a collective resolve to overcome challenges.
