Former Guber Aspirant sued CBN and FG over naira redesign

The naira swap policy by the central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the deadline is gaining more momentum as Bauchi state political activist and a former gubernatorial aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the defunct fourth Republic in Bauchi state Dr. Ibrahim Waziri had sued the central bank governor, Dr. Godwin Emelifle and the federal government of Nigeria with President Mohammadu Buhari and the Antoney general of the Federation Alhaji Ibrahim Malami for the violation of Nigerian rights.
First, In an interlocutory injunction restraining the CBN and the Federal Government for carrying on with the policy filed in the Federal high court Bauchi division,the defendant is urging the Court to retain the 1st and the 2nd Respondents from enforcing the deadline of 31st January 2023 for rejection of the #200,#500 and #10000 notes as a legal tender pending the conclusion of the suit.
Second, an order directing the respondent to maintain status quo Ante Bellum as it exists period the 31st January 2023 pending the determination of the suit.
The originating suit with no FHC/BAU/CS/Q3/2023 and motion no FHC/BAU/M/05/2023 was fine in the Federal High court on 25th of January 2023.
In the Eleven pages affidiat disposed of by Patrick Owoicho & Co of No 10 Yandoka Road , opposite Baptist Royal Academy Bauchi Say, “the deadline of 31
January 2023 for the Plaintiff and Nigerians to return their old #200,#500 and #1000 naira notes failing which they should cease to be legal tender is unfeasible and beach of the letter and intents of Section election of Section 20(3) that of CBN among others.
Although , no date has been fix for the hearing as time of the report as all efforts to get branch director of the CBN to know if they has received the summons proved abortive.
The new naira note swap has generated a lot of hardship among Nigerian as Nigerian cues in most banks to withdraw the new naira note but no avail.
Over the weekend, the CBN governor Gowind Emifile has extent a window period of ten day with another grace period of Seven days for Nigerina to return back their old naira notes in exchange for the new redesign one’s.
