Gov.Sule to boost dry season farming with 600 Metric Tonnes of Fertilizers.

Nasarawa state government says, it has procured 600 metric tonnes of fertilizers for 2021/2022 dry season farming in the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this during the flag-off sales of Fertilizers for 2022 dry season farming in the State Agricultural Development Programme headquarters in lafia Wednesday.

He said, though the state government bought each bag at the rate of N9,300, government will subsidize sale to N7,000 per bag.

The governor who maintained that the state is blessed with fertile land for the production of Arable crops, also said the state is first in the sesame seeds production and the best in the country, but expressed concern that ‘despite the best we have, yet we don’t export it to other countries.

He also said the state is the first in cassava production, second in yam production and fifth in the rice production, ” but we supposed to be third in the country.,” he said.

Also Speaking, permanent secretary, ministry of Agriculture, and rural development, Malam Nuhu Usman Bunu while commending Governor Sule for all the support given to the ministry of Agriculture and rural development, also assured of the unalloyed support and cooperation of the ministry to enable him succeed on the tasks ahead.

The permanent secretary also warned farmers against the diversion of the commodities and pledged to deal decisively with anyone found doing that.

In his speech, General Manager, Nasarawa Agricultural development programme ( NADP) Mr Emmanuel Allanana assured the governor that his kind gesture would be reciprocated by making sure that the commodities are not diverted.

Allanana used the opportunity to assure dry season farmers that government would use all within its power to make sure that fertilizers and other farm inputs are provided to them at reasonable rates.

In his good will message, Emir of Lafia, Hon Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad1 While commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for embarking on the projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.also assured the traditional rulers commitments in supporting the policies and programmes of his government.
