The remains of the first military Governor of old Imo / Lagos State buried

The remains of the first Military Governor of Old Imo and Lagos State, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Rtd had been laid in his country home, Ohoroho Ovim in Isukwuato Local Government Area.

President Muhammadu Buhari speaking during a funeral service held in his honour by the Methodist Church Nigeria, Ohoroho Ovim Circuit Isukwuato diocese, described late Ndubuisi Kanu Rtd as a courageous gentleman who always stood for truth, justice, and was loved, respected by all, especially his Isukwuato clan for impacting so much in their lives.

President Buhari represented by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uche Ogah while condoling the bearers family, urged them to live in peace and harmony, urged them to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood their late father represented across the country.

Also speaking, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said the govt and people of Abia are proud of their late son that contributed immensely to the economic and social political development of the state, and appreciated the Govts of Lagos and Imo for the series of honour done to immortalize late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Rtd.

Governor Ikpeazu represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, who urged the immediate family, and entire Isukwuato community to take heart as death is beyond the control of man, and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss as well as granted the soul of the deceased eternal rest.

In their tributes, the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku and his Ebonyi State Counterpart, Dr. Dave Umahi represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral A.Z. Gambo described the deceased as a fine soldier, and astute administrator who not only contributed to the peace of the country, but strived so hard to leave indelible marks in governance through his selfless service.

Also, Senator Emma Nwaka, the former chairman of PDP in the state, the son of the soil in Isukwuato LGA, described the late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, as a fine military officer during his time, and as a first military Governor of the former old Imo State and Lagos State, that he did a lot towards the development of the both States.

Senator Nwaka said, he came close to him in 1991, when he was appointed a director, in the ACB- African Continental Bank, and that the appointment was shaken. But, when he went to him, the appointment was immediately regularized, and also describing him as a man of peace and justice. Wishing his family to be a peaceful one.

In his own tributes, Mazi. Sam I. Ohuabunwa, who is the convener, the New Nigeria Group, described the late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu as an Iroko tree, whom they had buried.

Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, who is an entrepreneur and investor, who had been involved in founding and managing several businesses, in many of which he still served as chairman of the Board of Directors. He had been exceptionally involved in economic advocacy for several years. He spoke on how to rewrite Nigeria, make it to be a peaceful country, and then fought against injustice, joblessness, poverty, insecurity, enforcement of laws, and make the country a first world nation.

He used the opportunity, to talk about the situation of things in Nigeria today. And talked about how all the citizens will live in harmony, and also treated equally, in other to achieve peace.

Sam Ohuabunwa stated that the mission of New Nigeria Group, is to mobilize like minded citizens to install enlightened, visionary and committed leadership in Nigeria, which will motivate the country to optimize its human and material resources in other to attain a global competitive in our country, where the justice, equity, peace and fair play will reign supreme.

He also stated that Nigeria needs Godly Leaders, that will turn Nigeria into a truly God fearing Nation, without discrimination of any kind.

Earlier in his sermon. The Prelate Methodist church Nigeria, Dr. Samuel Kanu Uche enjoined all to have the fear of God in them by living exemplary life.

Some personalities from all over the country attended the burial, including the traditional rulers, members of the state, and national assembly. The State Executive Council, the Press and other Government Functionaries were present at the burial.
