A group known as the concerned former Senators, House of Representatives members, Speakers and members of State House of Assembly from Plateau state has drummed support for Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, in his bid to emerge the 10th Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The former legislators from Plateau also called on the leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and other stakeholders to consider ceding the position of the 10th House of Representatives Speakership to the North Central Geopolitical Zone for the interest of equity and justice.

The group said they are not against any illustrious sons and daughters jostling for the position of Speaker, but for the interest of Plateau State, whoever is contesting from the State should drop their ambition and rally support around Hon. Wase.

Speaking to newsmen at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Jos, on Saturday, leader of the group, Senator Timothy Adudu admitted that they find it incumbent to lend their voices to the ongoing search for the 10th Speaker House of Representatives.

Senator Adudu said that in going into a contest of this nature, that is very competitive, “one has to go with its very best so as to compete with others.

“Given this scenario, therefore, by our estimation, our very best is Rt.Hon.Ahmed Idris Wase (popularly known as Maje in Plateau state) the current Deputy Speaker of the House.

“We believe Hon.Wase has the requisite credentials that can compete favorably with any member from around the country.

“It is a, well known fact that he has earned the respect of his colleagues due to his legislative prowess and leadership pedigree in the art of legislative matters and proceedings, we think Rt.Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase stands out here.

” As fifth timer in the House, rising to the position of the current Deputy Speaker, we think if has prepared him for the leadership of the House.

“We appeal to Nigerians particularly his colleagues in the Green chamber to give this our son in whom we are well pleased the opportunity to lead the House of Representatives during this 10th Assembly”, Senator Adudu stated.
